  • Poll: Would you like bada on the i8910?

Posted on February 13th, 2010 anphase 8 comments

The purpose of this poll is to find out if users of the i8910 are interested in bada as posed in the previous post. This is not to say that it will actually be implemented, but interest is the first step to anything. Feel free to share your thoughts on the matter. Going for bada is a more focused and well versed approach for the i8910 and I believe we can make some serious headway.

I would really like it if this OS was ported onto the I8910HD.

I believe that this would be our only chance of prolonging the life of the handset. it would cost Samsung to much money to go and arrange for Android or Winmo to be added onto it, where as with Bada everything is INHOUSE, they already have the hardware, all they need to do is send it to the labs and do what they want with it, whats to say they’ve not used this handset already to run things while testing Bada inhouse.

I have seen vids of other companies using this handset to showcase their new software, which goes to show the regard that it is held within the industry, so why wouldn’t Samsung use it.

I think this would be a great opportunity for Samsung to get the Bada OS of to a flyer, onto a very well spec’d device from the off.

its not going to happen until samsung decides it to. to port the os we need to make drivers for our phones hardware. and some software changes like camera options?

but you’ll never now until you try.….samsung HAS to support this os since its their own creation. If they create a bad name for bada:D no ones going to buy their smartphones

I think you are being optimistic to think Samsung would properly support BADA. For one, all phones regardless of OS lack support from Samsung, that lack of support affects their reputation but they don’t care. Secondly, they will do what they do at every MWC, create massive hype which they fail to deliver on. Thirdly BADA is in its infancy, it will not have the level of 3rd party support or complexity that Symbian has now and I imagine ever.
Last point, last night I was browsing on the samsung innovator and they have not followed up any developer program on any OS properly and even fail to properly support the touchwiz development. BADA will end up the same way I am sure.
Come on Nokia, release a decent phone so I can come back!!

id rather have symbian, which has 40% of the market share rather than a new OS with 0% developer support and market base.

      “Other” responses:

1 No, there is no multitasking in Bada 1
2 No way. Samsung will fail customers regardless of OS. No 3rd party support yet! 1
3 Yes, but only if there will be an hebrew keyboard 1
      4 I’d like to have dual boot, symbian/bada or (better) symbian/android 1
      5 Android ftw ;D 1
      6 android 1
      7 Symbian^3 1

Every OS is cool as long as it not that dated pos that is Symbian. Symbian failed completely in the touch department, and Samsung didn’t give a shit to make it any better.

TouchJizz is the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen on a modern phone. There weren’t even shortcuts to apps without the users. Did they actually try to use the phone before they sold it?

Bada/Samsung’s support simply can’t be worse.

I always hear people say that support for the i8910 was very good, so many updates, sound codec, ks, etc…thing is, we only had updates because the phone’s software was crap from the beginning. The fact that it’s slightly less crappy now doesn’t make it any better.

Samsung gave up on Symbian before the i8910 even hit the stores. They won’t get any more money from me, ever.

I don’t think porting the OS would ever be possible without having to re-do every thing.…

One major point, I8910’s screen resolution 360 x 640 pixels

It wouldn’t even run a suitable version of anything without having to resize every aspect of the OS display output i.e. icons, text font
      etc.

I don’t even think that newer versions of the symbian^x’s will continue to run this resolution?? would it??
